Project description

In 2012, Morgan Sindall Investments Limited (MSIL) was selected by Slough Borough Council as their preferred partner for a Local Asset Backed Vehicle (LABV).   

The partnership has a 15 year concession period (with an option to extend for 10 years) to deliver a wide range of improved residential, commercial, educational, leisure, health and social infrastructure  projects to areas within Slough. The partnership  is working on an initial collection of 20 plus development sites with the potential for more to be as added as the  partnership builds its pipleine. 

This allows the partners within the Joint Venture to move forward on a site by site basis.  

Engaging with the community on projects of this nature is key to a successful outcome.  In Slough we have undertaken considered and proactive consultation on each development.  We want to understand the impact of our development on the community and the related local need in terms of use, housing and public realm.  We have also used these sessions to interact with local stakeholders in a meaningful way about jobs, skills training and youth employment.  We are putting a wider programme of engagement in place that will focus particularly on education and skills training for local people improving opportunities for employment and raising aspirations.

The Curve 

In September 2016, SUR’s first project, The Curve, opened its doors to the public. This iconic building now provides residents with a fantastic 4,500 sq m facility, which incorporates a library, cultural space, Registrar’s office, a theatre and performance space and other civic amenities.

Milestone 

Milestone is the LABV’s first residential project and as its name suggests will mark a new quality of residential new-builds in Slough. The scheme consists of 73 new dwellings including 49 houses and 24 apartments with a mix of affordable and open-market properties. So far, 70% of the houses are sold.

Wexham Green

Construction commenced in June at Wexham Green. The scheme of 104 homes will comprise 2, 3 and 4 bed houses, the show home is due to be opened in summer 2017.

The sites regenerated by the LABV are transformed into high quality schemes, The long pipeline of sites allows the LABV to masterplan the sites with a holistic approach, strategically improving the environment in which to work, live and play site by site. Many of the LABV’s schemes provide improved amenity space with enhanced natural habitats.
