STRIDE, a proud partnership between Burtons Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Health Innovation Partners (Arcadis and Community Solutions) are pleased to confirm the success of their public consultation event for the redevelopment of the Outwoods site adjacent to Burton Hospital.

The event which was attended by local residents, Burton Council, Hospital Governors and senior staff.

The proposed development of a Health Village which would include:-

  • A Medical Centre with a GP Surgery and additional health services;
  • An Extra Care facility for 80 residents;
  • A Care Home for 40 patients;
  • A stepdown facility for 50 patients to alleviate pressure on hospital wards;
  • A residences for 88 Doctors and Nurses;
  • A community Hub and;
  • A 100 place Child Care Nursery.

The plans for the development and the benefits it will bring to both the Trust and local people were outlined in a presentation by our Development Lead, Neil O’Cuinneagain, who also took questions from the audience supported by our Partnerships Director, Kath Lee.

The evening was ‘very positive’ with great feedback from local residents, as well as from the Council and the Trust.

The next stage of the process will be to submit an outline planning application which is due to be submitted before the end of January.
