Slough Urban Renewal announces Milestone, its first new residential scheme

Construction of Slough Urban Renewal’s first residential scheme is now well underway.

Milestone – named in honour of the nearby 18th Century milestone on Bath Road - will be the first in a series of exciting new residential schemes providing quality family housing across the town. Located on Ledgers Road and behind the former Town Hall it is close to the town centre and will provide 73 homes, a mixture of one and two bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom houses. The homes, which will all be highly specified, will set the standard for the town’s future residential developments and will offer both private homes and those for affordable rent. Help to Buy will be available across the scheme to assist those keen to take their first step onto the housing ladder.

Milestone is expected to launch in Spring 2016, with the first homes due to be ready for occupation by the summer. However, those interested in securing a new home here are being urged to register their interest now to ensure they are the first to hear when these exciting new homes are released for sale. Interested buyers can register their interest by calling 01753 326146 or by visiting

Councillor James Swindlehurst, commissioner for neighbourhoods and renewal, said: “Both as a planning authority and increasingly now as a builder in our own right, the council is committed to providing more affordable homes for local people, despite the challenging lack of space to build in the borough. We have built 264 new homes in the past year alone, and 1,000 more are currently under construction - including the new homes at Milestone and at Castleview in Upton.

“We have also launched a 'call for sites' to work with residents to identify land where a change of use could supply new housing."

“The Milestone development at Ledgers Road is significant because it is the first residential development to be built by the council and Morgan Sindall’s regeneration partnership - Slough Urban Renewal. It is exciting to finally see our political commitment being turned into real bricks and mortar - and I look forward to seeing the finished homes.”

Alastair Gourlay, a board member at Slough Urban Renewal said: “Slough has huge potential and it is our aim, through this exciting partnership, to deliver a host of projects that will enhance what the town already has to offer and to deliver much needed, high quality new housing for those living and working here. This development marks the first of many new schemes planned for the town and will really set the benchmark for the high standards we aim to achieve.”
