Transforming Care through Partnership
A new Clinical Assessment Unit (CAU) and a new 26 bed sub-acute ward (Piper Ward) at Crawley Hospital have been officially opened as part of NHS Crawley Clinical Commissioning Group’s plan to transform urgent care in Crawley. Community Solutions and Morgan Sindall Construction were appointed to manage and construct through our public private partnership by NHS Property Services. The CAU has been shortlisted for the South East LABC Building Excellence Awards due to be held in June 2017.
Dr Amit Bhargava, Clinical Chief Officer, NHS Crawley Clinical Commissioning Group said: “I am very pleased and proud that Crawley CCG and our partners, by working together to improve services for our population, have opened our new and improved Clinical Assessment Unit in Crawley Hospital. This will create much needed capacity in a modern, pleasant and clinical environment.
“Our dementia-friendly, Piper Ward, on the 6th floor of Crawley Hospital, with its great views, has just opened too. Later in the year we will complete improvement works on the Crawley Urgent Care Centre. Crawley CCG’s ambition has always been to bring as many health and care services closer to the people of Crawley as is safely possible, using our hospital, our community infrastructure and community services. The Clinical Assessment Unit and Piper Ward are key components of this ambition.”
Andy Hemsley, Project Manager, Community Solutions said: “ It is great to see people being treated in modern, inspiring facilities which we as part of a large team have created. Its testament to how well CSPS and Morgan Sindall Construction work together in partnership and the quality of service we provide to our clients. Everyone’s reaction to the two projects has been very positive and it’s something we can all be proud of. I now look forward to handing over the last piece of the jigsaw, the new Urgent Care Centre in May”.
